We are a lifelong learning organization affiliated with California State University, Sacramento with about 1,500 active members. We offer nearly 50 peer-to-peer taught classes on a wide range of subjects each semester. In addition, we recruit high profile speakers for Friday afternoon FORUMS, currently being produced through Zoom Webinar. View our class offerings in our previous semesters' Flip-book Catalogs from: Fall 2020 and Spring 2021. See our Current Fall 2021 Flip-book Catalog featuring Dr. Katharine Hayhoe as our kick-off speaker for this semester on September 10th, as well as a full listing of our Fall 2021 FORUM offerings. If you are interested in joining the Renaissance Society, click here.

DR. KATHARINE HAYHOE

Dr. Hayhoe is one of the most renowned climate scientists of our time and a riveting speaker. In addition to being a world-class scientist, she is a deeply religious person who strongly encourages members of all faiths to participate in stewarding our planet. As an atmospheric scientist and the Political Science Endowed Professor in Public Policy at Texas Tech University, she is Director of their Climate Science Center. She is also Chief Scientist for The Nature Conservancy. She co-wrote A Climate for Change: Global Warming Facts for Faith-Based Decisions, a book that untangles this complex science and tackles many long-held misconceptions about global warming. Dr. Hayhoe is also about to release another book in September entitled Saving Us: A Climate Scientist's Case for Hope and Healing in a Divided World.

SCIENCE MOMS: In 2021, Katharine joined with several other moms who are also accomplished climate scientists to develop a nonpartisan group called Science Moms.
